The vehicle refuses to close the main contactors and sets a precharge timeout.
The precharge path is open, so the DC-link voltage never reaches its threshold.
Suggested test plan
- Read the precharge timeout code.
- Command precharge and watch DC-link voltage.
- Test the precharge resistor and contactor.
- Replace the failed precharge component.
Safety: High voltage can be lethal. Only trained technicians may work on an EV. Use rated PPE and follow the manufacturer isolation procedure. This is an educational model only.
Precharge protects the main contactors from capacitor inrush. An open resistor produces a timeout, not a short circuit.
