Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to charge an EV from 10% to 80%?

On a modern 150-250 kW fast charger, 10-80% typically takes 20-40 minutes. A 7 kW home wallbox takes 6-9 hours, while a standard socket at 2.3 kW takes 20+ hours for the same energy.

Why is charging slower above 80%?

Batteries taper charging current as they fill to protect the cells. From 80-100%, charging can be 3-5x slower than the 10-80% window, which is why road-trippers charge to 80% and go.

How fast can an EV charge?

The fastest production EVs peak at 250-350 kW, adding up to 300 km of range in 15 minutes. Typical fast charging averages 100-180 kW over a 10-80% session.

Is 50 kW or 150 kW fast charging better?

150 kW cuts charging time roughly 3x versus 50 kW, but only if your car can accept that power and the station delivers it. Check your car's maximum DC charge rate first.
