Frequently asked questions
What is Level 1 charging?
Level 1 is a standard 120V wall socket (230V in Europe), delivering 1.2-2.3 kW. It adds about 6-10 km of range per hour — fine for small commutes, slow for everything else.
What is Level 2 charging?
Level 2 uses a dedicated 240V circuit (or 230V single-phase in Europe) at 3.7-22 kW. A typical 7.4 kW wallbox adds ~40 km of range per hour.
Is Level 1 charging enough for my daily commute?
If you drive under ~40-60 km/day and charge overnight, Level 1 may suffice. Beyond that, a Level 2 wallbox is worth it. Use the calculator to check your exact situation.
Is Level 1 charging safe for an EV?
Yes, if the socket is properly grounded and rated for continuous load. But it's slow and not ideal long-term; a dedicated Level 2 circuit is safer and much faster.
