EV Steering Wheel Vibrates or Car Pulls to One Side

Vibration through the steering wheel at speed, or the car drifts sideways when you let go.

What causes it

Wheel imbalance, misalignment, uneven tire wear, or a tire damaged by a pothole - all made worse by heavy EV weight.

What to do

  1. Check tire pressures - even a few PSI difference causes pulling.
  2. Look for uneven wear - wear on one edge means alignment is off.
  3. Re-balance the wheels - vibration at 100-120 km/h is almost always balance.
  4. Alignment check - if it pulls consistently, book a four-wheel alignment.
  5. Rotate tires every 10,000-15,000 km to even out wear.

Important for EVs

EVs are heavier and wear tires faster than petrol cars. Swap winter/summer tires correctly and keep alignment checked - it protects both tires and range.
