Fast Charging Gets Slower After Multiple Sessions
After several back-to-back fast charges on a road trip, charging speed drops noticeably.
What causes it
The battery accumulates heat over repeated fast charges; the BMS limits power to protect cells until it cools.
Why it happens
Fast charging generates heat. After 2-3 rapid charges, the battery is warm and the BMS reduces current to stay in a safe temperature range. This is protection, not a fault.
What to do
- Take slightly longer breaks - 30-40 minutes between charges lets the battery cool.
- Avoid charging to 80%+ on every stop - that adds heat for little benefit.
- In summer, park in the shade at charging stops; in winter, this is rarely an issue.
- If it only happens in summer on long trips, it's normal thermal management.
