Turning the key produces a single click from the starter but the engine does not crank.
The starter control circuit works, but the high-current path cannot deliver enough power.
Suggested test plan
- Check battery state of charge and voltage under load.
- Voltage-drop the positive and ground cables.
- Verify the control signal at the solenoid.
- Replace the failed component and re-test.
Safety: 12 V systems are low voltage but can still cause burns and fire. Disconnect the battery before working on wiring and never short a battery terminal.
A click with no crank usually means the control circuit is fine but the high-current path is poor. Voltage-drop testing is the decisive tool.
