EV CO2 Savings Calculator

See how many tonnes of CO2 you avoid by driving electric, based on your annual distance and the carbon intensity of your electricity.

Typical petrol: 140-160 g/km.

Norway ~20 · France ~60 · US ~380 · Poland ~700.

How this is calculated

  • Petrol CO2 = annual km × tank-to-wheel emission (g/km), including ~15% extra for fuel production (well-to-tank).
  • EV CO2 = annual km × (kWh/100km) × grid carbon intensity, including ~10% charging losses.
  • Trees planted equivalent assumes a mature tree absorbs ~21 kg CO2 per year.
  • Use your local grid intensity for accuracy — countries with lots of hydro/nuclear/wind make EVs dramatically cleaner.
