- Use seat & steering heaters. Far cheaper than heating all the air.
- Park in a garage. Keeps the battery warmer overnight.
- Drive with the heat pump on eco. Newer EVs manage cold-weather efficiency well.
How it's calculated
- 20-25°C is optimal — range at or above official.
- 0°C: ~15-20% loss with a heat pump, ~25% without.
- -10°C: ~25-30% loss, rising to 35-40% on short trips.
- Heat: >30°C AC usage adds ~5-8% loss.
