How much energy does regenerative braking recover?

In city driving, regenerative braking recovers 15-25% of the energy used. On long highway descents it can recover even more, effectively giving you extra range downhill.

Does regen braking wear the brakes?

No — this is a big benefit. Regen does most of the braking, so brake pads and discs last much longer. Many EV owners go 100,000+ km without changing pads.

Is one-pedal driving better for range?

Usually yes, but smooth is better than aggressive. One-pedal driving encourages gentle deceleration, which recovers more energy than hard stops where the friction brakes kick in.

Why does regen feel weaker in winter?

Cold batteries can't absorb charge as fast, so regen is limited in winter until the battery warms up. Preconditioning and moderate speeds restore full regen.
