Car Won't Auto-Lock or Mirrors Won't Fold
Walking away doesn't lock the car anymore, or the mirrors stop folding when it does lock.
What causes it
A changed setting, a door slightly ajar, a weak key fob, or a fault in the mirror motors.
What to do
- Check the auto-lock setting in the menu - it may have been reset after an update.
- Ensure all doors and the boot are fully closed - auto-lock won't trigger with a door ajar.
- Replace the fob battery - a weak fob signal makes walk-away lock unreliable.
- Check mirror fold setting - some cars have a separate option for mirror folding on lock.
- If mirrors fold manually but not automatically, the fold motor or wiring may be faulty.
When to see a dealer
If the car locks when you press the fob but never on walk-away, and all settings are correct, the proximity antenna or door sensors may need diagnosis.
