Checking the Fuse

Never work on the high-voltage fuse yourself. It requires high-voltage certification and special tools. Pull the fuse out and hold it up to the light. If the metal link is broken or melted the fuse has blown. Test across the two prongs with a multimeter set to continuity: a good fuse reads near zero ohms, an open reading confirms it is dead.

Step-by-Step Replacement

  1. Switch the ignition off and isolate the circuit.
  2. Open the relevant fuse panel and find the Main high-voltage contactor fuse using the lid diagram.
  3. Pull the fuse with a fuse puller and inspect the link.
  4. Fit a new fuse with the exact same 200 A rating. Never use a higher rating.
  5. Re-test the Main high-voltage contactor before replacing the cover.

A fuse that blows again immediately points to a short or an overloaded circuit, not a bad fuse. Check the wiring and the component it feeds, and see a professional if it keeps happening.
