E-Moped Won't Start or Shows a Fault
The moped turns on the display but the motor won't engage, or it won't power up at all.
What causes it
A security interlock (side stand, brake), a dead key fob battery, low battery voltage, or a BMS fault.
What to do
- Check the interlock - most mopeds need the side stand up, a brake pressed, and the key fob detected.
- Replace the fob battery - a weak fob disarms nothing and the bike refuses to run.
- Check battery charge - if the pack is too low, the BMS may refuse to power the motor.
- Check the kill switch - on the handlebar; a stuck switch blocks power.
- Reset the BMS - remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, reinsert.
If it still won't start
Check the app or display for the specific fault code. A persistent BMS or controller error usually needs a dealer - many brands can diagnose remotely.
