Hyundai & Kia E-GMP Common Problems (IONIQ 5, EV6, GV60)
Recurring issues on the E-GMP platform cars and how to resolve them.
What causes it
Shared 800V platform quirks: ICCU failures, charge-port latency, and 12V drain reports.
Common E-GMP issues
- 12V battery drain - the most reported E-GMP issue. Fix: update software (the recall campaign) and keep the 12V charged; some owners install a solar trickle charger.
- ICCU failure warnings - a known recall; the dealer replaces the integrated charging control unit under warranty.
- Slow port open / charge delay - usually a software update fixes charge-port latency.
- AWD models and efficiency - expect less range than RWD; not a fault.
- Kia Connect / Bluelink app delays - update and re-login.
What to do
- Install all recall software updates - Hyundai/Kia push fixes via dealer visits.
- Keep the 12V battery healthy - drive regularly or use a maintainer.
- For anything electrical, book a dealer - E-GMP systems need factory diagnostics.
Bottom line
The E-GMP drivetrain is excellent. Most reported issues are the 12V battery and ICCU, both covered by recalls.
