E-Scooter Vibrates at High Speed
The handlebars or deck vibrate noticeably when riding above 20 km/h.
What causes it
Wheel imbalance, bent rims from potholes, loose steering, or a warped brake rotor.
What to do
- Check the tires for bulges, cuts, or a bent rim - spin the wheel and watch the rim edge.
- Check balance - a scooter wheel that wobbles when spun needs re-balancing or a new tire.
- Tighten the steering stem and handlebar - play causes wobble.
- Check the brake rotor - a warped rotor causes pulsing vibration under braking.
- Check the deck - a cracked deck plate can vibrate and is unsafe; replace it.
When to stop riding
If the vibration is violent or you feel instability, stop riding - it could be a failing wheel bearing or a cracked stem. Both are serious.
