Electric Scooters

E-Scooter Won't Turn On After Getting Wet

After riding in heavy rain, the scooter turns off and refuses to power back up.

What causes it

Water ingress into the deck or battery compartment causing a short or triggering the BMS protection.

What to do

  1. Stop riding immediately and disconnect the battery if accessible.
  2. Dry everything thoroughly - open the deck, use a cloth, and let it air dry for 24-48 hours. Rice does not work and can corrode ports.
  3. Check the display and connector for moisture.
  4. Wait - BMS protection often resets once fully dry.
  5. If it still won't start, replace the battery connector - a corroded connector is the usual culprit.

Prevention

Seal any open screws with silicone, and if your scooter is not IPX5-rated, avoid riding in heavy rain. Even 'waterproof' scooters fail if seals degrade.
