Flat Tire on Your E-Scooter: Fix or Replace?
A punctured tire leaves you stranded and unsure whether to patch or buy new wheels.
What causes it
Punctures, pinch flats from potholes, or worn tread exposing the inner tube.
Quick decision guide
- Tubeless self-healing tires (like the Max G2): small punctures often seal themselves. Keep riding, then check pressure.
- Inner-tube tires: you can patch or replace the tube for $15-30, or switch to tubeless.
- Solid tires: no punctures ever, but a far harsher ride and hard to install.
If you patch
- Remove the wheel and tire.
- Find the puncture - inflate and submerge to spot bubbles.
- Patch or replace the tube (replacing is easier and more reliable).
- Check the tire inside for the object that caused the flat before reassembling.
Upgrade tip
If you flat regularly, switch to self-healing tubeless tires. They cost a bit more but virtually eliminate roadside punctures for city commuters.
